Manufactured Process Summary

The selected natural barites are grounded by a machine into different fineness and crystal shapes of barium sulfate. The quality of the stone depends on the fineness and shapes.

Product Introduction

The chemical formula of Barite is BaSO4. The theoretical components are 65.7% of BaO and 34.3% of SO3. The appearances of Barites are shown as crystal thick plates, bars or columnar shapes, granular aggregates, dense blocks, bell emulsions, nodular shapes, or crystal clusters. The pure barite is colorless and transparent. When containing impurities, it is shown as gray, red, brown or black, with glass-pearl luster. The hardness is as low as 3.0-3.5. It is brittle and has the specific gravity of 4.3-4.5. Barite is often mixed with Sr and Ca isomorphic, containing mutated barytocelestite (Sr > 30%), and Fe2O3, clay and organic matter. Barite is chemically stable, insoluble in water (the solubility is less than 3.9mg/L even under the temperature of 100˚C), insoluble in HCl. The powder can be slowly dissolved in H2SO4.) It has various special applications due to high specific gravity, low hardness, brittle, white color, good brightness, low wear resistance, chemically inert, insoluble in water and acid, good aging resistance, non-toxic and magnetic properties. In addition, for X-rays and Y-rays, some barium compounds contain certain highly shielding and coupling effects for toxicity. It has a wide range of applications, 20 products having 2,000 multi purposes, such as petroleum, chemicals, paints, pigments, rubbers, glass, paper, ceramics, textile, food, building materials, road construction, metallurgy, synthetic materials, electronics, nuclear energy, agriculture, medicine, military and so on. More than 20 industries need them. Three aspects for the major application include: First, the barite powder for the weighting agent of oil production and natural gas drilling; Second, the production of lithopone; Third, the preparation of barium chemical products.
