Natural Limestone
The natural limestone is calcined at 1100 degrees Celsius, and thus the limestone is reduced to calcium oxide (CaO). After the calcium carbonate is classified by fineness, and packaged, it is called calcium oxide (also known as quick lime or unslaked lime).
Calcium oxide is commonly called quick lime or unslaked lime, which appears as class white lump or sand granular and has the density of 3.35 g/cm3. It can be slightly soluble in water and shows strong base. It will gradually absorb water and gas in the air to be changed into calcium hydroxide or calcium carbonate. It shows as exothermic reaction when changed into calcium hydroxide emulsion in the water. Calcium oxide would be soluble in acids and be commonly applied to desiccant dehydration, acid-base neutralization, and modification of acidic soil.
